Artist Spotlight: Math Club

MATH CLUB is sad girl indie-pop that will make you want to dance while you cry. Started by two life-long besties who roped their most talented friends into being in a band with them, MATH CLUB is inspired by the indie rock they grew up on fused with the local Vancouver sound of today.

Math Club released their latest song “Lover Girl” (available on all streaming platforms) a couple months back. Are there any more new songs, possible an EP or Album on the horizon?

As a matter of fact we do have a new single on the way! We’re currently ramping up to release our next song ‘In Real Time’ on June 13th. It kind of sounds like boygenius meets Grouplove. The song is all about our friends that we barely get to see anymore and how much we miss them so maybe if they listen to it they will want to move back home.

If you could collaborate on a song with anyone, Artist, Musician, Producer, etc. Who would it be?

Oh that’s a tough one because there’s so many people were influenced by and would love to work with! It’s kind of low-hanging fruit but we gotta go with Jack Antonoff, not only because we’re big fans of Bleachers (and at least one of us is a card-carrying Swiftie), but we’re also just curious at this point on what he is doing in the studio that makes literally every major artist want to work with him.

If you could be a part of your own dream festival, could be with any artist from any time period/any genre. Who would be your top 3 acts on the festival?

Okay the festival has to be headlined by someone big so we are putting Noah Kahan at the top of the bill. After that it has to be The Beaches if for no other reason than maybe we could meet them back stage and they’d be our friends. And then we need some more local-flavour so we’d round it out with Vancouver icons Said the Whale!

Also to really fulfill the vision of the festival it would have to be held in Stanley Park (bring back Skookum!!!)
