December Artist Spotlight: Raincity

We are so honoured to be dedicating this month’s artist spotlight feature to this year’s Best In Vancouver first place winners Raincity. Raincity is a Vancouver-based Funk-Rock group making waves with their unique sound. Fronted by female leads on saxophone and vocals, their audacious performances are loaded with engaging interplay and explosive energy. The five members of Raincity combine their eclectic influences including Amy WinehouseMoon Hooch, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Our advice for any artists thinking about joining next year’s Best In Vancouver Competition is to find inspiration in the many talented bands/acts that will share the stage with them during BIV, and to set out to learn something from each performance.

It comes with no surprise that this quintet stole the show during the 2019 BIV finals. Their Atomic Dance Phunk-Rock (Punk/Funk/Rock/Pop) vibes had the crowd moving and grooving in sequence from start to finish. It's safe to say that the band has mastered the art of commanding a room. All while sending electricity to each person in there. The group is putting their first-place prize package to good use already, by choosing to record a new single and getting new band photography done as well.

In addition to taking full advantage of their prizes from the competition, Raincity has a couple of things up their sleeves that they plan on releasing early into the New Year. With every project they create, they hope their music inspires listeners to discard any inhibitions and give 110% to their craft, whatever that may be. They not only provide this at their live shows, but those inspirations have also found to be transmitted through their most recent music video for their single “Give This Up". The video was recently released on December 3rd, and it features the band performing in an elevator where their infectious tune inhabits everyone.

Something tells us that there is no place but up for Raincity, as they will be ending off the year at an ultimate high, opening for Five Alarm Funk and Small Town Artillery at the Commodore Ballroom on Thursday, December 26th.
