Where do you think the music industry is heading next? What are some things you would like to see?

Oddly, it seems like more short-form songs are where music is heading. With things like TikTok and Instagram Reels, Youtube Shorts, it's about selling 30 seconds of a song and then if people dig it, then it gets flushed out into an actual song. Lots of viral TikTok stars are emerging like that. Ive seen artists that have MILLIONS of listens on their songs that are Al created and using Al voices and such. It seems that you need something to really grab the audience for them to even give you a chance. Doesn't mean that it has to be Al generated or something weird, but that so much content is seen and digested that YOUR content needs to pack a basic level of punch! But as always, good music will rise to the top no matter what. But it's interesting seeing all these online sensations take the world by storm.

What recommendations do you have for bands to make the most of Best In Vancouver 2023?

Think about what sets YOU apart. And if your answer is "we have good songs!" then I suggest you keep looking deeper. What will make your audience want to tell their friends about your band? Or want to come back and see you? To most audience members, all your songs are new songs. You are new people to them. Have a great first impression and be positive and creative with how you interact with the audience. Leave us wanting more!

Is there anything in the pipeline for you coming up that you would like to share?

Support The Scene is always posting about the local music scene and wants to know what YOUR band is up to! So feel free to shoot us a message and let’s set up an interview!
