Artist Spotlight: Revel in the Chaos
Revel In The Chaos… more than just a band name.
It’s a concept, a statement, an invitation.
It’s how we create. How we live. How we shape our destinies.
To revel in the chaos means to grow through the hard times, to find pure joy in disorder, to thrive… not in spite of uncertainty, but because we’ve chosen to give up control. - Revel in the Chaos
For those who haven’t heard you yet, how would you describe your sound? What are some of your key influences?
Our band is less than a year old so it’s still kind of figuring out its sound and is a little all over the place right now. One minute it sounds like John Lennon giving nu metal a chance, the next it’s like Green Day and Radiohead went on a surf trip. We’re four different people from different backgrounds and we all have our own unique influences which we try to pay homage to. We simply call what we do ‘core’.
Rory, our singer, has a pretty strong Scouse accent when he sings which we’ve just sort of had to accept. I think if we could pick one influence each it’d be Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Talent, System Of A Down, Tool… there are so many more though.
Revel in the Chaos' first EP "Final Bow" just came out a few weeks ago. Which song is your personal favourite on the EP, and which song to play live? (They can be the same!)
Gosh, so hard to choose. The lyrics are pretty spiteful so they’re all satisfying to sing haha. I think Falling Off is our favourite recording, especially the piano and feedback section near the end. Live, gonna say Final Bow. The rhythm in the verse is tricky to play as a unit but when you get it right, so good!
What's next for Revel in the Chaos?
We’re growing as a band so our focus is just writing more and more songs and playing more shows. We’re very much in the see what sticks phase now that we’ve got our first couple of gigs under our belt.
If you could be a part of your own dream festival, could be with any artist from any time period/genre. Who would be your top 3 acts on the festival?
This answer changes daily and says a lot about the conversations we have when we're together, right now though;
System Of A Down
Sabrina Carpenter
Teenage Wrist
